The Oman Water Society was established on April 14, 2010 (29 Rabi' al-Thani 1431 AH) as the first Omani association specializing in water and the second of its kind in the Arabian Gulf. The society is committed to promoting water sustainability, research, and policy development, playing a key role in shaping Oman’s water future. With a growing network of over 214 members, Oman Water Society actively fosters collaboration among experts, policymakers, and industry professionals.
Securing water for the future requires innovation, research, and sustainable solutions. Through science and collaboration, efforts are focused on protecting, optimizing, and managing water resources to ensure long-term resilience. Our Objectives are:
We promote scientific research and technological advancements to develop sustainable water solutions. By collaborating with universities, research centers, and industry leaders, we work to enhance water management, improve desalination techniques, and optimize wastewater treatment, ensuring long-term water security for Oman.
We contribute to the development of data-driven policies and regulations that support effective water management. By working closely with policymakers and regulatory bodies, we help establish frameworks that promote sustainability, protect water resources, and address the growing challenges of water demand and climate change.
We envision Oman as a regional leader in water innovation and resilience. Through strategic partnerships and forward-thinking research, we accelerate solutions that redefine how water is protected, managed, and sustained for future generations.By connecting science, policy, and community action, we turn knowledge into lasting national impact.
The organizational committees serve as the driving force behind the strategic direction and execution of initiatives within Oman Water Society. These committees ensure that the society’s objectives are effectively implemented by focusing on key areas such as financial sustainability, scientific advancement, and public awareness.
Each committee plays a specialized role in contributing to the protection, management, and sustainability of Oman’s water resources.

By transforming knowledge into practical action, we strengthen professional capacity, support evidence-based decision-making, encourage innovation and promote a deeper culture of responsible water use.
Our work contributes to protecting Oman’s valuable water resources and advancing a more resilient, informed and sustainable water future for communities across the Sultanate.
As Oman Water Society enters its next chapter, it is building on fifteen years of knowledge, collaboration and public engagement to help shape a more secure and sustainable water future for the Sultanate. Its forward-looking vision focuses on strengthening national water security, advancing scientific research and innovation, expanding the safe reuse of treated and non-conventional water resources, and supporting greater resilience to climate change. The Society also aims to empower Omani professionals and young innovators through accredited training, research opportunities and knowledge exchange, while embracing artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve efficiency and inform better decision-making.
Through stronger partnerships with government, academia, industry and local communities, OWS will continue contributing to national water policy, promoting responsible water use and positioning Oman as an active voice in regional and international water dialogue—all in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
